Nadja Urrutia (biosnap)
|Standnr.: A38 |
Nadja, graduated and worked as an Architect in her homeland Venezuela while drawing and painting on her spare time. In 2008, she moved to Denmark and over the years shifted her career working more as Graphic Designer and Illustrator which allowed her to focus on her artistic work. In 2011 and 2013 she exhibited on Københavns Kulturcenter and has worked on private commissions.
Since the 2000, she has been exploring with drawings inspired by biomechanical art (humans or organism with mechanic parts and pieces) which she assumed was the logical mixture of disciplines and artistic styles she was always drawn to: surrealism, architectural and product design and science fiction.
“The female figure is a recurring subject of my drawings and paintings as I find fascinating the mixture of the female body with the cold steel of the mechanical parts that form limbs or technologic additions to the body functions as well as the all human concerns and feelings on a dystopian scenario. This year I wanted to include some few male characters as well to explore how I could adapt them into my female populated repertoire”.
For many years she worked with small pieces made with ink pen and coloured pencils on paper, as the size has gotten bigger more acrylic, oil and digital painting are more present in her work.
